Paul Myers - Chair of the Finance and Personnel Committee
I have been a governor at Holland House since 2016. My background is in the construction and facilities management industries where I specialise in health and safety and have a good understanding of school premises and the legal and statutory requirements to ensure the building is maintained to keep children, staff and visitors safe.
As a business owner and a company director for over 15 years I have a good understanding of finance, personnel, business strategy and the monitoring and scrutiny of statistical information and management outputs.
I have three young children, one in reception, one in year two and a toddler in nursery.
I am passionate about early years education and am committed to providing robust governorship at Holland House during my term of office.
I have been a Co-opted Governor since 2009
I taught full time at Holland House in Key Stage 1 from September 1986 to July 2008, mainly in Year 2. Following my retirement in 2008 I continued to teach part time in Reception until July 2012.
Holland House has been a major part of my life so I wanted to continue to support the school and develop new skills when I retired. I am a committed supporter of Holland House having over 30 years involvement with the school. This enables me to contribute positively to the continuing development of the school and the education of another generation of children. Being retired I have the time to attend events in school linked to my Governor role and spend time in the classroom with the children.
I sit on two committees, Curriculum, Monitoring and Standards, and Finance and Personnel, and am Early Years Foundation Stage Link Governor and Rights and Responsibilities Link Governor. I am also a member of the Head Teacher Appraisal Committee.
My aim as a Governor is to ensure that Holland House provides the best possible education for every child in a safe and supportive environment and that the curriculum delivered is challenging and inspiring.
It is a privilege to be part of the Governing Body and to have the opportunity to use my skills and experience to support Holland House.
Terri Coombs – Chair of Curriculum, Monitoring and Standards Committee
I have been a Co-opted Governor at Holland House since 2016 but have been a Primary School teacher for 17 years. I have taught in all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 and am now a Specialist Leader in Education for Computing and Online Safety. My son is currently in Year 2 at Holland House, and being able to play a part in ensuring he has the best opportunities was the reason I decided to become a governor.
I hold the title of Designated Safeguarding Lead at my current teaching school, with Online Safety being a vital part of what I do, as such I have confidently taken the role of Safeguarding Governor.
In addition, I am chair of the Curriculum, Monitoring and Standards committee. The committee meets with school leaders regularly to discuss assessment data and standards within school, with the aim of sustaining our outstanding achievements.
